Honey Onion Syrup

When I began my herbal adventures I stumbled across a book by Rosemary Gladstar. In the book Rosemary spoke of a syrup she made one winter of just onions and honey and how she swore it kept her family from getting sick that winter. So I had to try it. Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a wonderful vitamin to keep in the medicine chest. Not only is this vitamin renown for helping treat and prevent scurvy, it is helps boost the immune system. It is also water soluble, which means that whatever your body doesn’t absorb will pass through your urine. Although, too much can cause diarrhea; just think of this as your bodies way of telling you it has had enough.

Elderberry Syrup

Elderberries have been clinically shown to prevent and reduce flu symptoms. It has also been shown to help reduce the duration of colds, respiratory illnesses (head colds, bronchitis, sinus infections), and boost the immune system. Sambucol is a great brand and can be purchased at local grocery stores (Walmart, Walgreens, etc.) and natural stores. Sambucol for Kids is also available for children 2-10. For those with dietary restrictions, Sambucol Sugar-Free is available. Herbs for Kids has an amazing blend for children called Sweet Elderberry. Herbs for Kids can be found at most natural stores such as Natural Grocers, or online at Amazon.
